The Malaysian Bar welcomes the appointment of Dato’ Zaid
Ibrahim as a Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of legal
affairs and to oversee reforms in the judiciary. Given his previous public
statements and the stand that he has taken on issues relating to the rule of law
and human rights in our country, we believe that Dato’ Zaid Ibrahim has the
right vision to strengthen the administration of justice in Malaysia. As our
colleague and member from the Bar, we are proud that he has taken public office
and have high expectations of him. We believe he has a full appreciation of the
concerns of the Bar. We look forward to working with Dato’ Zaid Ibrahim and
offer him our fullest cooperation in the exercise of his duties.
Why do we welcome appointments .....? written by Charles Hector,

I wonder why the Bar is so happy with the appointment of a Minister in the Prime Ministers Department
The Bar also welcomes appointment of Fairuz, and who else...
Let us stop this practice and only praise when good things are done ----- not in anticipation endorse any appointment be it a Minister or the Chief Judge or the Head of the Judiciary...
