In the present 2008/2009 term alone, Christopher Leong has
served as a member of the Bar Council, Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee on the
Judicial Appointments Commission and Chairman of the GATS Committee. He also
represented the Bar at the Royal Commission of Enquiry into the infamous
Videoclip earlier this year, and is Chairman of the Organising Committee of the
21st LAWASIA Conference, held in Kuala Lumpur.
In addition to the above, his past activities include the following:

thereafter
3. Member of the Human Rights Committee 1999 – 2003
4. Chairman of the Corporate Law Committee 2004 – 2005

6. Chairman of the Legal Profession Committee 2005 – 2006
7. Chairman of the GATS Committee 2007 – 2008
8. Member of the Ad Hoc Committee in respect of the Academy of Law Bill
9. Member of the Ad Hoc Committee in respect of the Code of Ethics for Judges
10. Member of the Ad Hoc Committee on the establishment of the Judicial
Appointments Commission
11. Member of the 12th, 13th and 14th Malaysian Law Conference Organising
Committees
Christopher Leong has done invaluable work for the Malaysian Bar and has been
most effective in everything he has undertaken. It is with pleasure that I
nominate him for a position on the Bar Council.
