SHAH ALAM: A 16–year–old boy was among three robbers shot dead by police after a high–speed car chase here.

The three were gunned down at 4.15am yesterday, not long after police rammed into their getaway car.

They were suspected to be a gang preying on petrol stations.

After the car turned turtle, the robbers got out and tried to attack the policemen with parang, resulting in the police opening fire.

A police team patrolling the area had run into the suspects moments after they robbed a petrol kiosk about 2km away.

The getaway car which was stolen in Jinjang contained two cash registers, three parang and stolen items.

Police believe the robbers, from Cheras, were also involved in other petrol station robberies in Bukit Subang and the latest one in Glenmarie.

“The modus operandi of the group was to target remote petrol stations. They would move in when there was no one around,” Thaiveegam said.

He added that the suspects were believed to have robbed at least three petrol stations in the area in seven days.

Asked if the robbers were also involved in other robberies in Kuala Lumpur, Puchong or Subang, Thaiveegam said police had not ruled out the possibility.

The bodies were sent to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang for post–mortem.
