The Bar Council invites applications for the post of Deputy Chief Executive Officer at its Secretariat.
Responsibilities
(1) Report to and partner closely with the Chief Executive Officer ("CEO") to achieve the Bar Council's mission, vision, and objectives.(2) Support the CEO in managing the day–to–day operations of the Bar Council Secretariat, including administration, human resources, and strategic planning.(3) Assume the CEO's responsibilities when necessary.(4) Support the CEO in formulating policies and standard operating procedures for the functioning of the Secretariat, and undertaking follow–up work such as implementation and monitoring.(5) Take the lead in planning, coordination and implementation of a diverse range of projects to improve the operations of the Secretariat.(6) Assist with human resource matters, including drafting/reviewing vacancy announcements, liaising with recruitment agency, vetting applications, interviewing candidates etc.(7) Handle enquiries or complaints from Members of Bar or the public, as required.(8) Support the CEO in the planning and quality assurance of publications and other communications products.(9) Provide other strategic support and perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.
Requirements
(1) Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in related field (preferably law).(2) At least 10 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 5 years in law–related positions, and 5 years in management–level positions.
(3) Excellent in written and spoken English, and proficient in written and spoken Bahasa Malaysia.(4) Must exercise a high degree of independent judgment and initiative.(5) Have excellent analytical, organisational, time management and problem–solving skills.(6) Self–motivated, dedicated, and able to work independently in a challenging environment with minimum supervision, yet be a team player.(7) Be meticulous, systematic, precise and thorough, with a keen eye for consistency and detail.(8) Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive relationships with diverse individuals and groups.(9) Able to travel and work extended hours, including weekends if necessary.(10) High level of computer literacy, including proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.
