It is with great sadness that I inform Members of the Bar regarding the demise of our staff member Khadijah Tan bt Abdullah (“Kathy”) yesterday afternoon, due to illness.
The funeral took place yesterday evening.
Kathy had been employed at the Bar Council for a total of 36 years. She served in various capacities throughout her years of service with the Bar Council, ie as a stenographer, principal secretary, and then as confidential secretary. She was a constant presence at all key Bar Council events such as annual and extraordinary general meetings and Bar Council meetings. She will be sorely missed.
The Bar Council extends its heartfelt condolences and sympathies to Kathy’s family members and loved ones.

We bade farewell to one of our own yesterday
Her mortal form rests now, enveloped in earth and rose petals
Faithful prayer and our quiet sorrow go with her
She was a scribe and keeper of our stories
But much more, she was a friend and kindly sister
Her pain has ended
Her chair now empty
A piece of us is gone
But her story is etched into our own
