The International Malaysia Law Conference (“IMLC”) 2026 opened on the morning of 28 Oct 2026 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (“MITEC”), Kuala Lumpur, under the theme “Maintaining Core Principles in a Time of Change”. The flagship event of the Malaysian Bar brought together Members of the Bar, members of the Judiciary and delegates from Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, Nepal, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
The ceremony was emceed by Ariff Erzanie Ramli and Charlaine Adrienne Chin, who described the theme as one that resonated deeply with the times — members of the legal profession were challenged to embrace innovation and progress while remaining firmly grounded in the fundamental principles that give the law its purpose, integrity and legitimacy.
IMLC began with a performance of Malaysian cultural dances — a showcase of the nation’s diversity, artistry and heritage. The emcees remarked that, like the traditions on display, the legal profession was enriched by the many perspectives each member brought, and that this diversity of thought was precisely what made gatherings such as IMLC so valuable. An introductory video on IMLC 2026 followed.
