KUALA LUMPUR (July 21, 2011): Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into the death of political aide Teoh Beng Hock has established that political aide Teoh Beng Hock committed suicide.
This decision was contained in its 124–page report that was released today.
The report can be bought starting tomorrow at RM45 a copy.
The five–member RCI panel submitted its 124–page report to the Yang di–Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin last month. The commission began gathering evidence from Feb 14 and ended its hearings on May 18.
Teoh, 30, who was aide to Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah, was found dead two years ago last week on the 5th floor service corridor of the Selangor Malaysian Anti–Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters at Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam after being questioned overnight.
A coroner’s inquest had returned an inconclusive verdict on his death, leading the King to order a royal commission to look into the MACC’s conduct and Teoh’s cause of death.
