When will they ever come to realise that we non-Muslims do not want nor wish that syariah law be imposed on us. PERIOD!
It is absurd !!!!!!!!

What next? Shariah Law should only be applicable to Muslims. Maybe the next step (which I dread) is that, if a Muslim gets caught watching a movie/having lunch with a non Muslim during Friday prayers, both should be charged. Let there be some logic and fair play. Don't apply shariah provisions on us non Muslims.
To be fair (and just), Shariah laws cannot apply to non-Muslims in Malaysia written by Jason Kay Kit Leon, Wednesday, April 02 2008 11:23 pm
This "Proposal to punish non-Muslims for khalwat" is indeed a surprising development. But rather than stating the obvious "That's not FAIR", may I make several observations (which invariably requires the re-statement of 'obvious' principles):- ENAKMEN 7 TAHUN 2002 ------------------------------------------------------- 4. Islam Hadhari guarantees the rights of the non-Muslim http://www.pmo.gov.my/website/...770011AB15 "Hak-hak mereka dijamin oleh undang-undang negara" 5. In light of the above, the proposal by the Islamic Institute of Understanding Malaysia (IKIM) and the Syariah Judiciary Department Malaysia to create offences (for non-Muslims) where non existed before (in the name of 'fairness') is not only "not FAIR" but also not just. 6. It hurts me personally, as a non-Muslim, to have to read of such proposals when so many other things could be done/proposed in the name of promoting fairness and justice. Jason Kay Kit Leon PS. A bit of trivia. The photograph accompanying the article is a snap-shot of a couple committing khalwat apparently from the JAIS archives. http://www.mstar.com.my/cms/co...0-9f51aafe JAIS has disclaimed responsibility for any such leak http://www.jais.gov.my/index2....f=1&id=308 Jason Kay Kit Leon Write comment

Ouch! This is bad news.... are we trying to impose another person's moral values, faith and belief onto a non believer?
If the person, say a woman, who has no religion, or is an atheist and she is living with a Muslim man, how are we going to punish her for close proximity? Is there going to be a law against being in close proximity with a member of the opposite sex generally?
Do we want to classify it as "public nuisance" to be caught in close proximity with a Muslim in the privacy of her home?
And, if that be the case, how are we going to implement (im)moral values in the civil law? Do we want to charge a person for immorality? Well, they would have to create a law that says that it is illegal to be in close proximity with a member of the opposite sex. Or is it just going to be illegal to be in close proximity with a Muslim? If it is the former, then what happens if 2 Buddhists or Hindus were living together? The same laws should be applicable too? Where do we draw the line? And if it is the latter, then ....
Oh I don't know. I am just going round and round, but going nowhere, just like the intended law.
