Zaitun Mohamed Kasim (fondly known as Toni Kasim) passed away
at 5am this morning.
A tireless leader, Toni Kasim devoted her life to serving the community on a
broad range of issues for more than 20 years. She believed in the principles of
justice and equality for all. The main focus of much of her work was gender
equality.
Toni Kasim ran as the first independent women’s parliamentary candidate in the
1999 General Elections.
Her funeral is at 2pm today (after zohor) at 11 Jalan Mesra, Taman Mesra, Batu 3
Shah Alam.
Directions: From the Federal Highway to Shah Alam, after the
toll, you will see a Petronas & Merdeka Cafe on the right, take the turn to the
left which goes around to the right. Take next lights right & follow straight
till Merdeka Cafe. Immediately after the cafe, turn left. Travel 50m till you
see the house with a green awning.
