PUTRAJAYA, Sun: Bar Council member Roger Tan and Conveyancing Practice Committee member Bernard Kok represented the Bar Council in a meeting here with the Department of the Director-General of Lands and Mines last Friday to discuss the amendments to section 340(3) of the National Land Code 1965 to "legislatively reverse" the Federal Court's decision of Adorna Properties Sdn Bhd v Boonsom Boonyanit.

The meeting, a second follow-up meeting from the March meeting at Awana Genting, discussed amendments proposed by the Attorney General's Chambers, the Bar Council and other legal experts.

The Director-General of Lands and Mines Department, Tuan Abdul Halim bin Ain who chaired the meeting said the Ministry hoped the amendments would be tabled before the end of the year.

Also present were officers from the AG's Chambers led by its Senior Assistant Parliamentary Draftsman, Tuan Faisal bin Ahmad Sabri, Prof. Salleh Buang and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sharifah Zubaidah Syed Abdul Kader of IIUM.
