KUALA LUMPUR: A lawyer was charged in the Sessions Court yesterday with
receiving RM40,000 from his client three years ago to bribe the police.
Ranjit Singh, 54, pleaded not guilty to committing the
offence under the Anti Corruption Act 1997 at the lobby of the Le Meridien Hotel
at Jalan Stesyen Sentral around 11.45pm on April 22, 2005.
Anti–Corruption Agency prosecuting officer Kevin Morais prosecuted.
Judge Mohamad Sekeri Mamat set bail at RM5,000 in one surety.
Ranjit, who was represented by counsel Pradip Singh, posted bail.
The trial was fixed for Feb 2 to 5.
