Press Release | Malaysian Bar Welcomes Mobile Labour Court and Other Access to Justice Initiatives 24 Oct 2025 4:47 pm

The Malaysian Bar welcomes the Ministry of Human Resources (“MOHR”)’s expansion of the Mobile Labour Court (Mahkamah Buruh Bergerak), a significant step towards improving access to justice for workers nationwide.

We also welcome the announcement by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform), Dato’ Sri Azalina Othman Said, who heads the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister’s Department (Bahagian Hal Ehwal Undang-Undang Jabatan Perdana Menteri, “BHEUU”), that the Keadilan Bergerak (Justice on Wheels) programme will be expanded to Peninsular Malaysia.1 The programme, which is already in operation in Sabah and Sarawak, has received support from the Chief Justice of Malaysia, YAA Dato’ Wan Ahmad Farid bin Wan Salleh, and ensures that court and legal aid services reach communities with limited access to justice.

The Malaysian Bar further notes with appreciation BHEUU’s initiative to include facilities such as a child witness room within the mobile court,2 enabling children to give evidence in a safe and supportive environment. This reflects that justice can be both effective and compassionate.

The Malaysian Bar fully supports these efforts, which bring the justice system closer to the people it serves.  We stand ready to work with the Government and all relevant agencies to ensure these mobile justice initiatives are implemented successfully.

These developments mark meaningful progress in strengthening access to justice and reaffirm the shared responsibility to make justice in Malaysia not only a principle, but a lived reality for all.
