Press Release | Malaysian Bar Announces First-Ever MyBar Carnival 2025: Where Law Meets Community 23 Jun 2025 2:32 pm

The Malaysian Bar is pleased to announce its first-ever MyBar Carnival 2025, scheduled to be held on 21 September 2025 at the KLIA Ekspres Arrival Hall in KL Sentral.  This unique event invites the public to engage directly with the legal profession in an open, accessible, and community-oriented setting.

During a media announcement held on 20 June 2025 organised by the MyBar Carnival Organising Committee at Wisma Badan Peguam Malaysia, the Malaysian Bar introduced the theme for this inaugural Carnival — “Where Law Meets Community.”  The event aims to bridge the gap between the legal profession and the community it serves, ie the public, by showcasing the human side of legal practice and demonstrating the relevance of the law in daily life.

At the media announcement, the Secretary of the Malaysian Bar and Co-Chairperson of the MyBar Carnival Organising Committee, Murshidah Mustafa, noted that “the legal profession does not exist in isolation.  At its core, it serves people”, and “this Carnival is our way of breaking down barriers and creating a space where the public can connect with the law and its practitioners.”

Visitors to MyBar Carnival 2025 can expect the following:

  • Interactive exhibitions featuring law firms, tech companies, government agencies, and Bar Council Committees;
  • State Bars showcasing community-based legal initiatives;
  • Engagement opportunities for pupils in chambers and young lawyers with mentors and legal industry leaders; and
  • Exploration of legal innovation, including how technology is reshaping access to justice.

Treasurer of the Malaysian Bar and Co-Chairperson of the MyBar Carnival Organising Committee, R Jayabalan, added: “It will also be a valuable occasion for pupils in chambers and young lawyers, who will have the chance to engage directly with law firms, mentors, and other key stakeholders.  Equally important, it will serve as a platform for our Bar Council Committees and State Bars to present the impactful work they do.  It often happens behind the scenes but makes a real difference in people’s lives.”

The Malaysian Bar invites members of the public to attend MyBar Carnival 2025 and learn more about how the legal profession is working for the community.
