KUALA LUMPUR, Fri: Datuk Dr Yaacob Hussain Merican has asked Foo Ton Hin whether the latter is agreeable to pay the sum of RM75,000 as costs in lieu of taxation, counsel for Foo, Tommy Thomas told the Web Reporter today.
On December 6 last year, Foo filed a civil suit
against the Malaysian Bar, Dr Yaacob and two other scrutineers over the Bar
Council election 2007/2008 wherein Foo sought a declaration that Dr Yaacob,
S. Radhakrishnan and Inderjit Singh had acted beyond the scope of the Legal Profession Act
when they purportedly declared the Bar Council Election 2007–2008 void on Dec 1.
Dr Yaacob then filed an application to strike out Foo's originating summons on
the ground that Foo did not have any locus standi in commencing the suit.
Justice Datuk K.P. Gengadharan who heard the application then allowed Dr Yaacob's application and struck out Foo's suit with costs on February 15.
