The Malaysian Bar Annual Dinner & Dance 2025 was nothing short of spectacular! This highly anticipated event, held at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, brought together members of the legal community for a night of elegance, entertainment, and camaraderie.
A Showcase of Cultural Diversity
This year’s theme — A Night of Cultures — enhanced the festive atmosphere of the annual dinner as attendees embraced Malaysia’s rich diversity. The evening kicked off with a dazzling red carpet entrance, where guests arrived in their finest traditional attire.
The gala commenced with an inspiring speech by Mohamad Ezri b Abdul Wahab, President of the Malaysian Bar, who highlighted the Bar’s achievements of the past year and outlined the exciting path ahead. His words set the tone for a night of celebration and unity within the legal community.
Exquisite Dining and Entertainment
Guests enjoyed a sumptuous multi-course dinner that featured a delectable array of Malaysian cuisine.
The evening’s entertainment line-up was just as captivating. Talented performers from the Perak Bar and Kuala Lumpur Bar took the stage, and mesmerised the audience with their performances.
After comedian Kavin Jay’s hilarious set, attendees demonstrated their knowledge by competing in a lively Kahoot! quiz.
The energy of the ballroom continued to build with a thrilling Lucky Draw segment that featured 11 amazing prizes. Many lucky winners walked away with fantastic rewards!
Awards and Recognition
This year, three outstanding sports personalities were recognised for their contributions and achievements, as announced by Peter-Douglas Ling, Co-Chairperson of the Sports Committee. H R Dipendra, Kevin Wong Wye Keong and Paul Krishnaraja s/o Selladurai (represented by Alwin Rajasurya) received their awards from the President of the Malaysian Bar.
A highlight of the night was the Best Dressed Awards, where nominees entertained the crowd with an epic lip-sync battle, hosted by Kavin Jay. The winners earned well-deserved applause, not only for their stunning outfits, but also for their show-stopping performances.
Closing Performance
The night concluded with a mesmerising Bornean performance by the Nakasutra Dance Troupe, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Sabah and Sarawak. The performance featured traditional music and dance, including the Magunatip, a bamboo dance requiring skill and precision.
In an interactive segment, attendees had the chance to participate in the dance, stepping between moving bamboo poles in rhythm with the beat. This vibrant experience allowed guests to appreciate the beauty and intricacy of Bornean traditions firsthand. The crowd cheered as participants accepted the challenge, creating an unforgettable moment of unity and joy.

As the event wrapped up, the dance floor opened, and the energy soared! The DJ played a mix of classic hits and contemporary favourites, ensuring that everyone — from seasoned dancers to first-time groovers — had a blast.
