An organised filing system is crucial for a legal firm to function efficiently!
On 20 Nov 2015, the Bar Council National Young Lawyers Committee (“NYLC”) organised a workshop for young lawyers entitled “File Management”. The purpose of the workshop was to train young lawyers how to manage their filing systems.
The workshop was attended by approximately 26 participants, comprising Members of the Malaysian Bar, pupils in chambers and law students, and the speaker for the workshop was Joanne Leong.
The workshop covered several aspects of file management including file set–up system, client confidentiality, file status checklist, and file retention. A role–play session was conducted for participants to gain an understanding on the importance of an effective and efficient file management system.
The workshop concluded with the closing speech by Syahredzan Johan, Co–Chairperson of NYLC. The Committee thanked the participants for their active involvement and believes that the workshop was an eye–opener to many of them.
