It has become the norm that in cases where the 'targets' or 'suspects' have been shot dead, we hear the police claiming that they found weapons, especially parangs in the possession of the deceased.
This appears to be the modus operandi and standard response of the police. The public no longer believes such claim. Instead it only increases public disgust and outrage.
While we appreciate the efforts and contributions on the part of the police in crime prevention, greater transparency and truth is expected and would certainly be appreciated.
