Press Release: Perpetrators of war crimes not welcomed
Tuesday, 14 June 2011 05:49pm
The Malaysian Bar commends the stand taken by Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz in expressing grave concern over the invitations that have been extended to President Omar al Bashir of Sudan and President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, to attend the Langkawi International Dialogue next week.
Both these individuals have been condemned internationally for various atrocities. Futhermore, Omar al Bashir is the subject of an indictment by the International Criminal Court (“ICC”), which issued a warrant for his arrest in February 2009 on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Sudan’s Darfur region.
Particularly in light of the Malaysian Government’s recent announcement of its decision to ratify the Rome Statute and thus become a member of the ICC, it would be highly remiss of the government to allow someone with a record of such severe breaches of human rights, and an outstanding warrant of arrest, to be its guest.
We call on the Malaysian Government to demonstrate its commitment to the rule of law and the cause of international criminal justice, by effecting the withdrawal of the invitations to Robert Mugabe and Omar al Bashir.

Tony Blair another war criminal, rightly condemmned by his countrymen and subjected to intense inquiry by the Chilcot Panel, and who admitted to being responsible for the turmoil in Iraq, and who was instrumental in the death of thousands of innocent Iraqi babies, children, boys, girls, men and women, was invited to deliver a talk by a motivational organisation sometime ago.
He was paid in excess of RM1 Million. Nary a whimper from the Bar Council.

Blair did not kill the Iragis.
It was Britain's attempt to liberate the Iragis from their own tyrannical ruler, S. H., that Britain had sacrificed their own British Soldiers to face death & even to "die" in Irag.
Only the US, Britain and Aust. did so - in championing for the rights of Humanity around the world.
All other nations prove themselves to be "lesser ones", and financially too deficient - to be able to defend the Iragis.

Who are the jokers? written by Tan Peek Guat,

Hi Zainur,
I am not joking in what I said above - which I had always thought that THE WORLD ought to applaud that the Iragis are being liberated. I see many of them in Malaysia now, and their happy faces make me feel even more joyous about the good deeds of the Americans, British and Australians who undertook the difficult and expensive commitment to liberate a human race, and cared for their liberty - which seems to be bearing fruits now.
However, where 'jokers' are concerned, I can see that many lawyers are 'jokers' after all.
In some instances, they even lend themselves into creating 'false information' and making clients take false statutory declarations - in order to earn their money and help them to hopefully, 'win' their matters, even though in themselves they know and understand the wrongful manners!
This happens - especially when/in defending those who are guilty, those who breached contracts, and had done wrong to the other party - but yet, for the sake of being paid/well paid, such lawyers representing them act without any true conscience - and making a joke out of the other party's sufferings.
How many lawyers tell their clients to admit their own wrongs or advise them to settle amicably when their client have done wrong?
If at all there are, such lawyers would be those ones who refuse to represent such guilty parties. That would mean leaving to the "jokers" out there to earn such clients' lavish payments thrust into their open palms!
Regards.
Jenny
