Police should refrain from being trigger-happy PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 27 June 2001 12:00am

The Bar Council notes with regret the shooting of the man who reversed his car into a police car, by the police (NST - 19 June 2001). The police seem to have failed to give a warning shot, but only fired one shot which hit the man on his head and killed him.

The Bar Council views with concern this incident and is of the opinion the police should refrain from being trigger-happy. The Bar Council calls for investigations into the shootings to be carried out expeditiously and for the setting up of an Inquiry into the shooting.

Mah Weng Kwai
Chairman
Bar Council
