Lawyers have been giving press interviews on cases they were handling

The Bar Council notes the concern of Y.A.A. Chief Justice of the Federal Court that lawyers have been giving press interviews on cases they were handling as reported in a local newspaper (The Star: 6th April, 1999)
The Bar Council welcomes all complaints in particular from the judges for unethical conduct by members of the Bar with concrete evidence for further action by the Council. Statements based on one's observation from his bathroom that lawyers are giving interviews to reporters would be too flimsy and would be of no evidential value. It would not be possible to ascertain what was discussed, the identity of the lawyers and the reporters.
When lawyers endeavour to dispense their duties in representing the rights of litigants in Court without fear or favour, it should not be misconstrued as attempts to find fault with judges.
