The Bar Council will be supporting the month-long Home Ownership Campaign sponsored by Bank Negara and has accordingly made arrangements to enable members of the legal profession to charge a reduced fee for house-buying transactions during the Campaign to contribute towards the success of the Campaign. The Bar Council has in conjunction with Bank Negara agreed to a reduced scale of legal fees chargeable.
The proposed revised rates are however subject to approval by the Solicitors’ Costs Committee appointed by the Honourable Chief Justice of Malaysia under the Legal Profession Act 1976. The Honourable Chief Justice Tun Eusoff Chin has agreed to refer the proposed revised rates to the Committee for an early decision.
The Bar Council will duly notify all lawyers of the revised rates once approved which are to be applicable for the duration of the Campaign only.
