Bar Council Family Day and Walkathon 1999 PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 29 July 1999 12:00am

The Bar Council’s Charity & Welfare Committee under the chairmanship of Mr. Indran Rajalingam would hold a Family Day for members of the legal profession and their family and friends at Tapak A and B, Taman Tasik Perdana Kuala Lumpur on 8th August 1999 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Family Day would also involve a food funfare when members of the Bar and their family would set up food stalls of their choice. Members of the Organising Committee and the Chairman of the State Bar Committees of Malaysia would set up food stalls to represent various kinds of Malaysian food from “nasi lemak” to “thosai”, “appums”, “rendang”, “Johor laksa” and “mee rebus”. Foods specially well known from the various States would be on sale together with several delicacies and sweets. The stalls would be manned by volunteers of the Malaysian Bar.

Walkathon

In conjunction with the Family Day, a Walkathon will also be held on the same date and venue at 8:00 a.m. There would be 5 categories for the Walkathon namely:

i. Men - below 45 years of age

ii. Men (Master) - above 45 years of age (as at 1/1/1999)

iii. Ladies

iv. Children - Less then 15 years of age

v. Family - Husband, wife and children

The distance of the Walkathon would be approximately 5 kilometers (km). The entrance fee for the Walkathon is RM 25.00 per participant and RM 50.00 for a family who participate as a unit. There would be a funfair from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. where children could participate and enjoy themselves by taking part in the various games that would be available.

The Bar Council from the proceeds derived from the Family Day and Walkathon would make donations to various charitable organisations as was done in the past. This is part of the Bar Council’s contribution towards a caring society and to extend a hand to the less fortunate and underprivileged.

Members of the public are invited to come with their family and participate in the food and funfair. For further information please contact Ms. Thoo at telephone numbers: 03-2911366, 2911367, 2911698, 2911512 and 2911312. Ext. 106.
