KUALA LUMPUR: The younger members of the Institute of Engineering Malaysia
[IEM] continued their efforts to bring together the young professionals in the
Klang Valley, and create greater interaction between the various young
professionals’ organisations.
Last Saturday on January 27, the young engineers of IEM hosted a Young
Professional Nite at ‘MySciFiFan OutPost Café’ at Cineleisure, Damansara Mutiara.
Almost 100 professionals attended the gathering. Amongst them were accountants,
architects, chemists, doctors, engineers, lawyers, pharmacists, town planners
and veterinarians.
These social gatherings are welcomed and are truly a commendable effort. In his welcoming speech, the chair of the younger engineers, Chau Fong advocated closer ties among those present that night.
Every representative of each professional body was invited to give a short
speech. Edmund Bon spoke on behalf of National Young Lawyers Committee [NYLC].
In view of the on-going Flood Fund drive by the Malaysian Bar, an NYLC member,
Agnes Chow went around the café collecting donations for the NYLC Flood Fund.
RM221.00 was collected.
IEM went on to organise games like Taboo and a few others.
It is planned that further events be jointly organised by the
various organisations. NYLC applauds IEM’s young wing, and hope these
collaborations will continue to prosper.
IEM has already invited NYLC to present a talk on property
transactions, and Damian Yeo of the Malacca Bar will speak on behalf of the NYLC
at the event.
