The simultaneous West Coast Charity Nite will be taking place
on Friday, June 29, 7.30pm, with the KL Bar YLC hosting their instalment at
Maison, just off Asian Heritage Row.
The aim of the West Coast Charity Nite is to ultimately raise funds and to help
create awareness towards the adopted charities.
The Johor YLC has adopted the Johore Cheshire Home, the Perak YLC with
its Good Shepherd Home,
and Melaka will be supporting the Pusat Kanak-Kanak Terencat Akal Bahagia.
This year, the KL YLC is supporting two charities, namely the Persatuan Dialisis
Touch in Petaling Jaya and the Sri Shenbagavali Asram Home in Sungai Besi, Kuala
Lumpur.
The Persatuan Dialisis Touch in Petaling Jaya is a non-profit charity
organisation which has set up a haemodialysis centre to cope with the increasing
number of end-stage renal failure patients. The organization specifically
targets low-income individuals who are unable to seek private treatment
elsewhere. The proceeds from the KL Charity Nite will go directly towards the
subsidisation of medical care for the Centre’s patients.
The Sri Shenbagavali Asram Home is located at Batu 7 1/2, Sungai Besi, 57000
Kuala Lumpur and is home to more than 30 underprivileged young children aged
between 3 months to 18 years old, old folks and single mothers. The running
costs of this Home per month is at an average of RM6,000.00 which includes
amongst others, tuition fees, medical expenses, electricity and water bills. It
is worthwhile to note that the Home has indicated that they would prefer if we
helped replace the zinc roofs which at the moment have severe leakages.
Every Charity Nite ticket purchased, and every ringgit donated, will go a long
way towards helping these two charities.
This house is where the children normally go to watch TV.
This zinc roof has some leakages, and this building houses
the children.
This is where the old folks live, and we observed very
severe leakages from the zinc roof. The floorboards in some of the rooms had
started to rot from all the water.
