SPK II “You must be the change you wish to see in the world", simply put by the great Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi, brings us once again to indulge in some critical thinking and reflect on what’s in store for the future of young Malaysians!

After a successful session of “Siri Pemikiran Kritis” held early this year, the National Young Lawyers Committee and Youth for Change has once again collaborated to organise the 2nd edition for four consecutive Wednesdays, beginning 8:00 pm from the 13, 20, 27 June and ending on 3 July 2007.

The purpose of SPK II is to provide a platform for youth to discuss crucial issues affecting the country currently and have their voices heard. “We hope to encourage people to think more critically,” said Lee Khai Loon of Youth for Change at a press conference held early this week at the Bar Council.

The sessions conducted in both Bahasa Malaysia and English would include discussions on issues such as planning and development, problems faced in the urbanisation process, civil liberties, media freedom and the new vision for Malaysia.

This edition of SPK II brings on board a distinguished panel of speakers to engage the audience in a healthy debate. They include Datuk Seri Lim Chong Keat ;architect & urban planner, Former President of Penang Ratepayers Association; Derek Fernandez; lawyer, Yasmin Ahmad; prominent local movie director, Jeff Ooi; well know blogger, Richard Wee; lawyer and many more.

Deputy Chair of NYLC, HR Dipendra said “Whilst we encourage all Malaysians to attend, we hope to see more participation from the youths as they are in a better position to effect changes”.

Admission is free for all sessions but registration is encouraged, as there are limited seats. For more information, please visit this link.
