While we are fortunate, we do not forget about those unfortunate. The time has
come for us to rise up for charity and various State Young Lawyers has planned
some activities to raise funds for various homes that they have identified. It
will be a good time of coming together putting time and effort to make others
live a better life.
Why are we emphasising on charity?
It gives us opportunity to help others. It is a generous actions or donations to
aid the poor, ill, or helpless.
To start of with, the KL Young Lawyers is organizing “Battle of the Bands”
– The KL Bar Young Lawyers Committee's Charity Nite 2008 on 27 June 2008 at
SaVanh Too, Plaza Mont Kiara. The highlight of the night will be the
performance of 5 very promising bands consists of our own members of the bar.
All collection will go to Persatuan Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Klang Selangor.
On the same day, 27 June 2008, Penang Bar is also organising a charity auction
to raise fund for the China earthquake/flood and Myanmar cyclone disaster relief
funds. The venue is at Farquhar Bar, E&O Hotel, 5.30 pm onwards. There
will be plenty of items to bid for such as books, wine, meal vouchers etc.
On 28 June 2008, Selangor Bar Young Lawyers is organising a Charity Bowling
Tournament. The Venue is at Pins & Bowls Alley, Holiday Villa, Subang Jaya.
There will be great fund challenging one another in a game of bowling. All
profits of the event will go to a home and school for handicapped children
called Taman Sinar Harapan in Kuala Kubu Baru.
On 10 August 2008, Kelantan Bar Young Lawyers is organising a Charity Day. The
theme will be ‘pasar ria’ where food stalls will be set up to sell our
very own local delicacies, ‘kuih-muih’, drinks etc. There will be more
than enough food to feed the whole ‘kampung’. The venue and other details
will be updated soon.
So come, rise up from the comfort of your office and join the charity events in
your respective states. Donate generously. Let us put our differences aside and
stand up for charity. This is something we can do together.
