Mediator used for watershed dispute PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 01 March 2010 03:31pm
By Scott Wente , Woodbury Bulletin

A professional mediator is being used to help resolve a southern Washington County watershed dispute.

Mediated negotiations were sought by officials from the cities of Woodbury and Cottage Grove, who stand on opposite sides of a watershed boundary fight and have filed competing cases before the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

The mediation process, started last week and continuing early next month, includes the cities of Woodbury and Cottage Grove, Denmark Township, Washington County, the South Washington and Valley Branch watershed districts and the Minnesota Board of Soil and Water Resources.

The discussions are taking place out of public view, but the outcome could affect how water is managed in southern Washington County for years to come and what local residents pay will for those services.
