Motion 1:
That the Government be requested not to table the [Official Secrets] Bill in Parliament.
ALTERNATIVELY:
i) That the Government be requested to postpone the readings of the Bill.
ii) That more time be given to consider the far reaching consequences of the Bill including the possibility of introducing Freedom of Information legislation.
IN THE FURTHER ALTERNATIVE
That upon the Bill being read in Parliament it be referred to a Select Committee for further study.
AND THAT
The Malaysian Bar pledges to the Government its assistance in any way in carrying out a detailed study of the relevant legislation.
