Motion 1:
i) That the Bar take steps to negotiate with other brokers for compulsory cover under the Act at more competitive rates;
ii) That the Council keep and maintain proper records and date relevant to compulsory indemnity insurance of all practising members (including fee, gross fee, income, areas of work and claims experience);
iii) That the Bar Council engage brokers bi-annually on a tender basis to obtain the maximum benefit or members effective from the next period of insurance.

Resolution:
On a vote by show of hands, 77 were in favour of the Motion, 44 were against and 16 abstained. But since the 77 votes failed to achieve a 2/3rd majority, the Motion could not be carried.
