All civic-minded Malaysians must have been stunned with the barbaric behaviour
of the PKR MP for Kulim-Bandar Baru, Zulkifli Nordin on 9th August 2008 outside
and inside the premises of the Bar Council. There were many pictures of him
cajoling and inciting the crowd. He has been reported to saying, "I have
negotiated with the Dang Wangi police to stop the forum at 9.30am, or else we
will act".
This PKR MP:
• Made clear he will take the law into his own hands when he said to the face of
the police", or else we will act".
• "If they do it again, we will take action", as reported in the press and many
blogs. He is a law unto his own!
• Claimed he was there representing an organization of lawyers defending Islam.
That is not an issue. His repugnant behaviour while still serving as a Wakil
Rakyat IS THE ISSUE.
• Caused civil society to be alarmed and fearful - not from doing something
against the law or, morally wrong, but rather, if it causes displeasure to some
who could muster an assembly of people to harass, intimidate and bully.
• Justified this wanton act of terror by defiantly stating in Parliament House
that the PKR Adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim understood his actions and had
summoned him to campaign in the Permatang Pauh by-election.
The MCA Youth has waited 2 whole weeks, and it now appears abundantly clear that
the PKR is most unlikely to take any disciplinary action against this MP.
All peace loving Malaysians deserve to know where PKR, or more specifically
Datuk Seri Anwar's stand is, on mob rule or the inciting of mob rule?
The whole Malaysia is waiting.
Dato' Liow Tiong Lai
MCA Youth National Chairman.
