KUALA LUMPUR: He was invited to live with a couple so that he could treat them
the traditional way.
But instead, the traditional medicine practitioner took advantage of the
situation and raped their underage daughter. Twice.
A Sessions Court here was told of how 23-year-old Mohd Faizal Zakaria, who was
living with the couple at their home in the Jalan Semarak police training centre
to administer treatment, had raped the 15-year-old girl when no one was home.
In the first incident on June 26 last year, the medicine man known as Ustaz
Faizal shoved the girl into her elder brother’s room where he stripped and raped
her despite her struggles.
Eight days later, on July 4, Mohd Faizal went into the victim’s room after she
had just finished her bath, stripped her, forced her down on a mattress and
raped her.
In mitigation, counsel Zamri Ibrahim asked the court to be lenient saying his
client had pleaded guilty to the two rape charges.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Muttaqin Rabbani Abdullah urged the court to
impose a deterrent sentence.
Judge Fathiyah Idris sentenced Mohd Faizal to seven years’ jail and three
strokes of the whip for each of the offences and ordered that he serve them
concurrently from the date of his arrest.
