ALOR SETAR: A shop supervisor was sentenced to death by a High Court for murdering a salesgirl last year.
Ooi Ai Peng, 34, was found guilty of murdering Suhana Mohd Shariff, 26, behind a shop in Taman Kristal at about 10pm on March 3, 2010.
Judicial Commissioner Zakiah Kassim in her decision said Ooi had failed to raise a reasonable doubt in her defence.
She said Ooi had testified that she was merely defending herself from being attacked by the deceased.
“Ooi said she and the deceased had fought inside a car and she (Ooi) sustained injuries to her wrist and chest.
“However, Ooi’s injuries showed that it was self-inflicted and not in self-defence,” she said.
Zakiah also said the bloodstain on the front passenger seat where Suhana sat showed that a scuffle had taken place when the accused attacked the victim and not as alleged by Ooi.
