KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 — The Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) is still waiting for police approval to question its officers involved in the July 9 Bersih 2.0 rally in the capital city.

In a statement today, Suhakam said it had completed going through all the documents, statements and video recordings of the rally submitted by the public, as well as wrapped up its interviews with witnesses living in the Klang Valley.

It is in the middle of arranging to interview out-of-state witnesses who were present in the capital city that day despite a police lockdown.

“The commission is awaiting for a response from the Police to its request and subsequent reminder of its intention to interview the Police Personnel who were on duty during the 9 July public assembly,” it said.

Suhakam said it will fix and announce the hearing dates for the three-man public inquiry, which will be chaired by its vice-chairman Datuk Dr Khaw Lake Tee, as soon as its interviews were finished.
