KUALA LUMPUR: The management of Reggae Mansion has reversed its policy of not allowing guests of certain nationalities, including Malaysians to stay.

Owner Robert Khoo said this after taking Kuala Lumpur Mayor Tan Sri Ahmad Fuad Ismail on a tour of the premises at Jalan Tun H.S. Lee here yesterday.

“There has been a misunderstanding. We only implemented the policy after feedback from local guests about how some of our foreign guests dressed,” he said, adding that 80% of the hotel's guests were foreigners.

It was reported earlier this month that the boutique backpackers hostel franchise did not accept Middle Eastern and Indian nationals.

Ahmad Fuad said City Hall will send a reminder to all budget hotels to stop such discriminatory policies.

“We will not issue licences to businesses found to have such apartheid-like policies,” he said.
