©The Star (Used by permission) KUALA LUMPUR: The Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) on electoral reforms will hold its first public hearing in Parliament tomorrow and Saturday. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Depart-ment Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said the public could express their views on how to make the country’s electoral system better. “I hope the public will give their views as they will be taken into account by the PSC comprising MPs from Barisan Nasional, the Opposition and an independent,” he said after opening the Sticky Fingers Bangkok Bistro in Pavilion KL here yesterday. Also present was Rotol Group managing director Datuk Garry Chua. Bernama reported that PSC chairman Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili said it would hold its fourth meeting today. He said suggestions and ideas which were agreed upon would be included in the interim preliminary report to be tabled in Parliament before the Dewan Rakyat sitting is adjourned on Dec 4 or 5. Other than the first hearing which will be held at Bilik Jawatankuasa 2 in Parliament, five other sessions are scheduled at Kom-pleks Pentadbiran Persekutuan Sabah, Kota Kinabalu (Nov 25-26); Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petrajaya, Kuching (Dec 8-9); Dewan Sri Pinang, Lebuh Light, Penang (Dec 15-16); Bilik Gerakan Negeri, Kota Darul Naim, Kota Baru, (Jan 7-8) and Bilik Gerakan Tun Abdul Razak, Bangunan Sultan Ibrahim, Johor Baru (Jan 12-13). The committee members will study the laws and rules of election, enforcement of the election process and alternative voting systems as well as improving voter registration. In August, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced the formation of the PSC following complaints of unfair election rules and problems with the electoral roll.
