IPOH: The national-level Jalinan Murni programme will be officially launched in Kampung Bawong, Sungai Siput, 35km from here, tomorrow by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Aimed at involving the Orang Asli community in the country's mainstream development plan and reducing their financial burden, the programme will be jointly carried out by 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), Felda and Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) with cooperation from the Orang Asli Development Department.

The programme, expected to benefit some 200,000 Orang Asli nationwide, is being launched after the roaring success of the Community Service Programme, which was launched by Najib in Kuching, Sarawak, on April 13.

Among the activities lined up for the programme are "English On Wheels" classes, mobile clinics, gotong-royong and sports activities.

The Orang Asli community would also be given food baskets filled with nutritious and staple food and vitamins.

Besides these, funding would be given to carry out micro hydro projects in selected areas.

After the official launching, the Orang Asli Development Department would seek suitable locations to hold the programme nationwide and submit its findings to 1MDB, Felda and PNB.

The programme is headed by 1MDB's Corporate Social Responsibility director Dr Shamsul Anwar Sulaiman.
