MALAYSIA's biggest online forum, LowYat.net, says the amendment to the Evidence Act has been made without technical understanding and are essentially flawed.
In a statement issued to The Malay Mail, the website's administrator, who said the forum were unsure of what they need to do to prove they were not the publishers for contents posted on their portal.
"Like most the online community, we think the reversal of presumption under Section 114A of the Act is flawed and displays a lack of appreciation of technology and the working of the Internet.
"We only store IP address information of posters on our forum. Beyond this, we are unable, from both a legal or technical perspective, to identify the actual person who made the post."
The administer said the powers to determine the person who made the posting is actually available to the law enforcement.
"As an online forum, it would appear that the administrators would be responsible for any post on the website, unless we can prove otherwise."
