IPOH: Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin has rejected
suggestions that he swear over the truth of the recent arrests of two state exco
members.
“I don’t buy into those ideas,” he said when asked if he would respond to former
mentri besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Tajol Rosli Ghazali’s invitation to swear before
God.
“Let’s leave it to the court to decide,” Nizar added after officially opening a
bowling tournament yesterday.
On Saturday, Tajol Rosli had said he was willing to swear that he had nothing to
do with the arrests of Changkat Jering assemblyman Mohd Osman Mohd Jailu and
Behrang assemblyman Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi for alleged corruption.
Both exco members and three others are likely to be charged today after the
Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) revealed that it had enough evidence to prosecute.
The men were among six people detained last week for alleged graft involving a
RM180mil housing project in Seri Iskandar, Perak Tengah.
Nizar had accused Umno and Barisan Nasional of orchestrating the entire episode,
which prompted Tajol Rosli to invite his successor Nizar to swear to his claim.
Asked if the two men would be suspended from their exco duties if they were
charged, Nizar said: “No, no, no, not at all. We will still retain them.”
Meanwhile, Perak ACA director Samsiah Abu Bakar confirmed that the two exco
members would be charged today.
