KULAI, March 9 (Bernama) -- MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting is shocked with Barisan Nasional's (BN) poor performance in the general election.

"The results are very startling as we have lost several states. However, the MCA accepts the voters' choice," he told reporters after the announcement of the Kulai parliamentary seat results at the Dewan Raya Putra here.

"We accept the results sincerely. I have to get the facts to do an analysis and determine the factors and reasons that led to these results," he said.

As at midnight BN has lost Penang, Kedah and Selangor and many of its stalwarts including MIC president Datuk Seri S.Samy Vellu have been defeated by the opposition.

Meanwhile, Ong was announced the winner of the Kulai parliamentary seat defeating the DAP candidate Ng Pack Siong with a majority of 11,744 votes.
