MACC wants to recall pathologists PDF Print E-mail

The StarSHAH ALAM: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commissions (MACC) head of prosecution Datuk Abdul Razak Musa wants the two pathologists who conducted the first post-mortem on political aide Teoh Beng Hock’s remains to be recalled to the stand.

Abdul Razak said Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Klang’s Dr Khairul Azman Ibrahim and Universiti Malaya Medical Centre’s Dr Prashant Samberkar should be called in to clarify doubts raised in Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojasunanand’s report.

Besides performing the first post-mortem, they were also present during the second post-mortem conducted by Sungai Buloh Hospital pathology unit chief Dr Shahidan Md Noor on Nov 22 last year, said Abdul Razak.

Government-appointed counsel Tan Hock Chuan, who is assisting coroner Azmil Muntapha Abas, said Abdul Razak’s application would be given consideration.

However, counsel appointed by the Selangor government Malik Imtiaz Sarwar objected, on the grounds that recalling them would be akin to giving them a chance to “remedy” their initial testimony.

Dr Shahidan had conceded during cross-examination on March 1 that there might be flaws in the first post-mortem.
