PUTRAJAYA: Housewife S. Shamala, who is embroiled in a custody battle with her husband over their two underage children, has discharged her lawyers.

Lawyer Steven Thiru, who appeared for Shamala, told the Court of Appeal that his client was of the opinion that she had exhausted her legal remedies.

The panel, led by Datuk Sulaiman Daud, allowed Shamala's application to discharge her lawyers.

The legal team had written to Shamala at her last known address in Australia following the Court of Appeal directive to verify her instructions to discharge themselves.

Sulaiman then fixed Dec 1 to hear Dr Jeyaganesh C. Mogarajah's (now known as Dr Muhammad Ridzwan Mogarajah) appeal to set aside committal proceedings against him following the conversion of the couple's two sons (then aged 4 and 2) and later for taking them away from Shamala.

The children are now with Shamala.
