PETALING JAYA: Human rights lawyer Edmund Bon has joined the list of people being investigated under the Sedition Act.
When contacted, Bon confirmed that he was being investigated over the article titled “Bukan Islam tidak perlu patuh kepada titah Diraja atau fatwa, kata peguam (Non–Muslims do not have to adhere to the royal decree or fatwa, says lawyer)”, which was carried in an online portal.
In a series of tweets from Bangkok where he is now, Bon said he was informed of the investigation via his law firm, Bon Advocates, yesterday.
“Bon Advocates just got a call from ASP Zaidi Rahman, Penang, that I am being investigated for sedition re this (the article),” he tweeted.
Bon pledged to cooperate with the police and said he would meet them when he returns.
Bon also tweeted that lawyer Amer Hamzah would represent him.
