KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia and Japan have long–standing bilateral relations, and two prestigious law firms in the countries are set to expand on this by way of a formal association.
Malaysian law firm Chooi & Company has agreed to an association with Japan–based TMI Associates.
“Both law firms have compatible cultural values, which I would say are very Asian values that emphasise mutual respect, diligence and high work ethics.
“These are among the reasons for the association,” said Chooi & Company managing partner Christopher Leong.
At a cocktail reception here on Monday, Leong noted that the collaboration would provide both firms with the ability to meet international demands of the legal marketplace across Asia.
TMI Associates is Japan’s fifth largest law firm, with its headquarters in Tokyo and offices in other countries such as China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Singapore, Vietnam and the United States.
Also at the reception were TMI Associates co–founding partner Eizo Matsuo, Japan’s ambassador to Malaysia Dr Makio Miyagawa and Negri Sembilan prince Tunku Zain Al–Abidin Muhriz.
