©The New Straits Times (Used by permission) SHAH ALAM: The Gabungan Wawasan Generasi Felda (GWGF) will seek the help of the arbitration council to resolve a host of complaints, including long-standing issue on the grading of oil palm, with settlers in 317 Felda land schemes. Chairman Tan Sri Rozali Ismail said they had appointed a panel of 23 lawyers dubbed "Skuad Peguamku" (My Legal Squad) to provide free legal advice to settlers, who had lodged their complaints through the National Settlers Complaints Bureau (Bapak). He said GWGF wanted these issues to be resolved out of court to preserve the good relationship between management and the settlers. Rozali said the decision to turn to the council, chaired by Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Ahmad Maslan, was reached during a meeting with 13 NGO's under GWGF yesterday. "As of October, Bapak has received 2,297 complaints with 400 complaints about the grading of oil palm. "If both parties were to reach consensus, the case would be considered resolved, if not, we will bring the matter to the Arbitration Court," Rozali said. He said the meeting also discussed the listing of Felda Global Ventures Holdings Sdn Bhd (FGVH) on Bursa Malaysia . GWGF will hold a closed-door dialogue on Oct 29 at the Blue Wave Hotel here to discuss the exercise in detail in terms of its impact on settlers' equity and the "windfall" promised by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. "The discussion will help us get a clearer picture and decide on whether to support it," said Rozali. FGVH is expected to be listed on Bursa Malaysia by June 2012. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who announced the listing of FGVH in the Budget 2012 early this month, said the listing was to unlock value as well as raise funds for the company to be a global conglomerate.
