©The Star (Used by permission) KUALA LUMPUR: Several experts and lawyers will offer views that will counter Opposition claims on the proposed hudud law at an MCA forum here. Among them are lawyers Edmund Bon, Philip Koh and Eric Choo, Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs founding chief executive Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Islamic Renaissance Front research fellow Ahmad Fuad Rahmat. MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said the Dec 4 forum at Wisma MCA would highlight the fact that hudud would indeed have a big impact on non-Muslims, besides the country's economic, political and cultural landscape. “Either we progress under the leadership of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak or go backwards with PAS, which is adamant about implementing the hudud law. “Non-Muslims should decide because this involves their future and the next generation,” he said here yesterday. On another matter, Dr Chua said there were technical problems that should be resolved before Malaysians overseas could cast their votes. He said an online news portal had misreported a statement issued by the MCA representative at the parliamentary select committee on electoral reform Datuk Ei Kim Hock. On conforming schools, Dr Chua said the party would meet the boards of directors and their principals to gather information on their development needs. “The Education Minister has agreed to provide special allocation for the development of these schools,” he said. “And we will meet with their representatives to discuss this matter.” Set as favourite Share Email This Comments (0)
