KUALA LUMPUR, June 13 (Bernama) -- CIMB Bank Bhd expects a 15 percent growth in
its Direct Access card business annually, its head of direct banking/cards, Yap
Yoke Yuen said.
"Targeting professionals and graduates, Direct Access has to date about 250,000
card holders," she said on the sidelines of a launching ceremony of the bank's
new Direct Access Malaysian Bar MasterCard here Friday.
She said the card was designed for members of the Malaysian Bar Council and
bears its insignia.
Within West Malaysia, there are about 12,000 Bar Council members.
"Currently, about 2,000 of them have signed up for the card. We hope to get the
rest of the members to take up this card by the year's end," Yap said.
Yap said the card offered an exclusive two percent rebate at all petrol
stations, bonus points, discounts at over 500 merchant outlets and a flexi pay
plan above RM1,000 at any retail outlet.
"In addition, the platinum and gold Mastercards now come with the Paypass
functionally that enables cardholders to make purchases by simply tapping their
card on a card-reading device," she said.
