KUALA LUMPUR: A lawyer for private investigator P. Balasubramaniam was called in
for his statement to be recorded in connection with the two statutory
declarations (SD) his client made early this month.
M. Puravalen arrived at the federal commercial crimes investigation department
headquarters in Bukit Perdana here at 9.45am yesterday.
Bar Council chairman Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan and lawyers Sulaiman Abdullah,
Stanley Sinappan, Oh Choong Ghee and Akhbar Hussin accompanied him.
The group left Bukit Perdana at 11.30am.
Puravalen said he cooperated with the police but only answered questions that
were relevant.
“What is sure is that my client’s interest is a priority and it is my
responsibility to protect him,” he said.
Ambiga said police should not be calling lawyers for statement recording in the
first place.
“I have already sent a letter to the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa
Hassan asking for an explanation.
“Puravalen is the third lawyer to be called to have his statement recorded,''
she added.
