SHAH ALAM: Accused Abdul Razak Abdullah Baginda intended to kill Altantuya Shaariibuu once and for all after the Mongolian woman threatened him several times, the High Court heard yesterday.

Deputy public prosecutor Tun Abdul Majid Tun Hamzah said Razak's move in seeking help from Azilah Hadri had explained it because Azilah did not have the authority of an auxiliary policeman.

He said Razak had claimed that he sought help from Azilah to ensure the safety of his family and house, but Azilah was a Special Action Unit (UTK) personnel who did not provide "police boxes" and patrol the area of a person's house.

He said Razak should not have been worried over the safety of his family because he had hired private detective P. Balasubramaniam and he should have lodged a police report on Altantuya's threats and not sought help from Azilah.

He said that after Altantuya's death, Balasubramaniam was summoned to a police station on Nov 1, 2006, for identification and when released, Balasubramaniam had asked Razak about the matter but Razak said he did not know and said he would ask a senior police officer.

"Razak was not supposed to say so because he had contacted Azilah on the night of the incident and it was a deliberate lie which he needs to explain," he said.

Tun Abdul Majid also asked whether it was true Razak did not really want to know what had happened to Altantuya when she was taken from the front of his house and what sort of solution he had hoped for from Azilah.

Azilah, 32, and Cpl Sirul Azhar Umar, 36, both UTK operatives, are charged with murdering Altantuya in Mukim Bukit Raja, Selangor, between 10pm on Oct 19, 2006, and 1am the following day.

Razak, 47, a political analyst, is charged with abetment.

The prosecution ended its eight-day submissions with Tun Abdul Majid asking the court to call all the accused to enter their defence based on the evidence adduced.
