KUALA LUMPUR, Tues: The Bar Council in its meeting on 19 August 2006 approved the recommendations made by the Lawcare Fund Management Committee meeting which I chaired on 18 August 2006 to give financial assistance from the Lawcare Malaysia Bar Benevolent Fund to Chuah Leet Hwa, widow of our late Phang Ah Hee a sum of RM5,000 and Challet D’cruz, widow of our late Joseph Jones A/L J. Fernandez a sum of RM10,000 as financial assistance.
Chuah is also entitled to a death claim from the Lawcare Group Term Life Insurance Policy with Malaysian Assurance Alliance Berhad (MAA).
Rajendra Raj, a committee member of the Lawcare Fund Management Committee, in the presence of Roselaily, the Executive Officer for Lawcare Department, presented the cheques to both applicants at the Bar Council Secretariat last Friday.
Rajendra hands over the cheque to Madam Challet D’Cruz with the son standing beside her while Ms. Roselaily witnessing.

A very deep thanks to the work of this year's entire Bar Council and the staff members, the wives and children of our late learned friends got some money. At least this will keep them going for some time.
I speak with the years of sordid experience - I grew up faster than fast - that I had when my late father died at the age of 36, leaving a brood of ten children.
The years of struggle are indelibly imprinted in my mind. I do not wish the same sordid experience to visit anyone anywhere anytime.

A good move and effort by the present leadership to take care of the interest of members including obtaining a group insurance policy for members. It will surely come in handy for many families who lost their loved ones out of sudden. Keep up the good work Ravi and committee.....
