In 2009, there was a total of 24 claims, with 23 claims in respect of death of Members and one claim for medical treatment expenses.
In respect of death of Members, the total sum paid out to the beneficiary(ies) of each Member is RM30,000 (RM20,000 from the insurer and RM10,000 from the LawCare Fund). For Members who died at the age of 70 and above after 1 July 2009, a sum of RM30,000 was disbursed to their beneficiary(ies) out of the LawCare Fund.
A sum of RM20,000 was paid out in respect of a claim for medical expenses.
The total sum paid out for the 24 claims is RM710,000, of which RM290,000 is taken from the LawCare Fund.
